development projects

PERIOD: 2020 - 2023

TRE-M

Tre-m will develop new concepts for autonomous road maintenance, battery recycling, and testing and demonstration of liquid and gas fuels and biofuels from the region. It will create industry growth, increased value creation and sustainable adaptation through a deeper regional supply of research and market-related resources in trials and demos. TRE-m is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Norrbotten Region, Norrbotten County Board, Sparbanken Nord and Längmanska företagsfonden.

PERIOD: 2020 - 2022

Retrii

The RETRII initiative stands for Resilient Europe Test Road & Integration Initiative.
The aim is to create a world-class charging test bed with the E45 as its backbone. There is collaboration with academia and the energy sector in areas such as power quality, power development and availability. The first implementation phase took place in collaboration with Circle K and was funded by the Swedish Energy Agency through the Regional Electrification Pilot Project. The feasibility study is funded by Vinnova and the pilot project by the Norrbotten Region.

PERIOD: 2018 - 2021

SNÖAKADEMIN

The goal is to understand snow as a material. How can snow be made to have the same properties as natural snow? The automotive industry is interested in the friction associated with snow, while the ski industry focuses on the production of snow.
–Tyre manufacturers want to better understand snow in order to develop better winter tyres that make transport safer. For the ski industry, it's about skiing even when the climate gets warmer, says Johan Casselgren, associate professor of fluid and experimental mechanics at Luleå University of Technology.

development activities

Demonstration

EuroNCAP CCRs & tyre comparison test

Watch a film of the four tests conducted in winter climate at Ice Makers Pipudden. The demo is part of the TRE-m project.

TEST

SIGNAL STRENGTH TELE2

Watch a video about a test of the signal strength with Tele2 while driving. The test is conducted by the company BI Nordic. This action was part of the TRE-m project.

TEST

SIGNAL STRENGTH TELIA

Watch a video about a test of the signal strength while driving. The test is conducted by the company BI Nordic. This action was part of the TRE-m project.

inauguration

PRE-commercial charging stations for Testing of heavy vehicles

The motive for this pilot project is the rapidly growing interest in rechargeable vehicles in the heavy-duty sector. It provides an additional structural basis for the conversion to electrification led by Norrbotten and Västerbotten. This activity was part of the TRE-m project.

AGREEMENT
ABB and TestInfra Sweden to test electric vehicle operation on public winter roads

The team behind SPGA has established TestInfra Sweden AB. The aim of TestInfra is to accelerate electrification in the Winter Test Region and support a rapid transition to sustainable transport. This activity was a part of the TRE-m project.

New BUSINESS
TO secure Northern Sweden as the globally leading test region

SPGA has initiated the RETRII feasibility study. As an early result of this Vinnova-funded study, the company TestInfra Sweden AB is now being established. The aim is to secure global leadership in electromobility. This activity was a part of the RETRII and TRE-m projects.

STRESS TEST

UNIQUE TEST OF THE ELECTRICAL NETWORK FOR FAST CHARGING OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES

SPGA, Vattenfall and Luleå University of Technology conducted a stress test to investigate how fast chargers affect the electricity grid, including a first demonstration of a mobile battery storage system. This activity was part of the TRE-m project.

Demonstration

EuroNCAP CCRs scenario in winter climate

Watch a film about the three tests carried out in Arctic Falls Vitberget. The demo is part of the TRE-m project.

PILOT

POWER BANK FROM SCRAPPED ELECTRIC CAR BATTERIES

An electric car needs a power bank. Peder Strand in Älvsbyn has made a battery pack - from discarded electric car batteries. The work is a pilot project in the TRE-m project, which is carried out in cooperation with the car testing industry and Luleå University of Technology.
